JYPE is a South Korean management company like Johnnys, they have artistes such as Wonder Girls, 2AM, 2PM and previously RAIN and G.O.D...I am sure there are more but these are the famous ones :)
I auditioned for JYPE in the SF area, I am 100% sure I am not gonna get in because I know I don't have mad talent n skill, but I wanted to experience an audition for once in my life and maybe see some future celebrities or JYP if he came. Plus what if....they see something in me that even I don't see :D
This is how my days went down:
Halloween-- my face gets brushed up by some drunk college girl's bracelet or should I call it barb wire. I have scratch marks right underneath my cheeks and it does not look pretty.
Day before JYP audition-- I put on a face pack for 'brightening' my face for tomorrow. I feel slight burning and tingling sensation but I reason that the pack is doing its work....so wrong!
DAY OF AUDITION!!!
I wake up late, stare in the mirror and notice I have red marks and scabs around my mouth area....the face pack aggrevated the halloween wounds and formed small brown scabs! Damn!!! I have no time for make up or breakfast, quickly I pack in my laptop, make up, dress and run out of my house.
I wanted to give up right then because I didn't want to go for an audition looking like a war soldier, but since my motivation is not to get in JYPE, I went anyways. (although I wouldn't mind getting a call back and a chance to train under a major company, not to mention meet 2PM and other celebrities ;P)
10:15am - Bought tickets for the Amtrak and boarded it....off I am going to Oakland! (That's the venue for SF audition)
With an empty stomach, I try to warm up my vocals but I can't bring myself to sing anything louder than a whimper hahaha...I give up and watch Queen Seon Duk Ep 47 on the train, while constantly doing my make up and using a week's amount of concealer to cover up my war wounds T__T I hate you drunk girls, you ain't classy!
12:20pm - I get off at the stop and try to find my way around to the bus stop that takes me to Korea Times building, the venue for the audition. As I get to the bus stop, I notice an Asian girl (A) with documents in her hand...I sense another auditionee!!! I don't know what to say so I just listen to my ipod (she's doing the same) and wait for #50 bus.
In comes a bus, girl A gets on. OH! I was mistaken about her! I laugh at myself for suspecting every Asian with documents to be auditioning.
Few minutes later, in comes 2 Asian guys with small bags. Again my mind is to work but I don't say anything to them. When the bus #50 finally comes, they get on too! I sit at the back and listen to the piece I am going to sing.
Since I wasn't very serious about the auditioning, I sorta skipped around from one song to another, I remember I practised Take A Bow -->Halo --> No One --> So Sick --> my final song selection ( Can't reveal it yet! lol )
Around 12:40pm the bus stops and I get off, the boys get off too confirming my suspicion and I follow them since I have a bad sense of direction :D
After about 5-10 minutes of walk, we finally arrive at Korea Times building in Oakland!
Upon our arrival at the Korea Times building, I noticed that it was a half empty parking lot with a door on the immediate right side of the building. Moreover, there was NO ONE ELSE IN SIGHT!
Yes, me and my 2 soon to be friends were the first ones on the venue. Great! I move around here and there, and finally go up to them and ask, "So is the door closed? We can't go in?". The boys answer back affirmative and then we make small talk. They ask me, "Are you modeling for the audition?" For a second I thought maybe I should model since I expect there will be a billion people singing, but no I am singing and I find out that the 2 guys are singing as well.
In rolls in a Toyota Camry with 2 Korean guys really dressed up in Korean fashion. They look around and realize they are early and after laughing, they get back in the car and sit in there....BOO! (come hither!)
Meanwhile I talk with them and find out they are Chinese and fans of Wonder Girls, awww how cute. We did a little "Nobody" dance time and again when we got bored.
Then comes the same GIRL A from the bus stop!!! WOW I was right! My killer instincts have all been right and this wasn't the end of it, there was more to come...
Now everyone was talking to each other, we got quite comfortable and friendly and I realized the girl and I were from the same Uni!!! WOAH!
The audition hall door opens and out peeks a Korean lady and tells us that we'll have to wait outside since the JYPE staff haven't arrived yet and they need to set up equipments etc...and then finishes off her line with "You know the audition starts at 3pm right?"
HAHAHAHA Yes we know! That meant another 1.5 hours to hang outside and kill time. By then our group made friends with another girl who came from Berkeley and had a midterm at 6pm...talk about giving your all. O__o
As more people started coming in, we got tired of hanging around the door and went into the Berkeley girl's car and started warming up our vocals. HAHAHAA 5 of us squished in a car, with the doors all shut, going "la la la la la". Oh what a moment, it was worthy of being recorded, too bad we were all too embarrassed and trying to make sure the people outside couldn't hear us.
At around 3PM or maybe a little later, the doors opened and we finally got out of the car. DAMN! So many people showed up! We were all coped up in our little world of warming up and singing our audition songs to each other that we didn't notice how the people had exponentially increased.
We got into the line ASAP, and talked to the people around us, but nothing beats the Berkeley girl. She was loud and hilarious. I was sharing my love for 2PM with a group of girls that were gonna Dance for their audition and we did little MLAQ "Oh Yeah" choreo...oh Kpop you are entertaining.
The staff start yelling to make 2 lines, people who have registered and those haven't. All of us had registered so we got bumped up in the 2nd line. We finally walked into the hall and were given number tags to clip on and the same Application form to fill. We walk in into the medium size hall with a stage, a white screen and a grand piano. OH MY GOD, ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?! ARE WE GONNA SING IN FRONT OF ALL THE AUDITIONEE (btw I hope this is the word)???!!!
So after a little bathroom incident and touching up my make up..ahem concealer, I sit down and in rolls in videos of JYP trainees and JYPE artistes. Everyone is quickly filling in the forms, and wondering if this is our stage. The Korean lady staff announces admist the loud music that we will be divided in groups of 10, and will be taken to ANOTHER building where the official JYPE staffs are (not judges) and will be videotaped there. OH MY GOD! (they announced not to take pics or videos so I didn't take any more)
4PM - A tall Korean guy staff tells the groups from 1 - 20 to get up and hand in our application. Then he takes us according to our numbers and helps us cross the street over to the next extremely plain building. Wow, decoy much?!
In goes 1-10 while the 11-20 are standing outside and going giddy with excitement, nervousness and the need to use the bathroom. Please note: Too much water for your throat is bad for your bladder.
After a minute, the Korean guy I mentioned before (dressed in Korean fashion) hops outside looking quite delirious and lost. Everyone's shooting him questions and asking him if he's seriously done but it seemed like we just got there... His eyes look shifty and he glances all over the place and then the tall staff guy calls him back in. Hahahaha The guy sorta ran out after his part.
After a couple of minutes, the group 1-10 come out looking dead serious and dejected, no one was crying but they might as well have been coming out of a funeral procession.
We're ushered inside the building and OH MY GOD! In a big room, with a stage and 10 chairs...WE WERE ALL GONNA SING IN FRONT OF EACH OTHER. My nightmare had just come upon me.
The JYP official staff were all ladies and they told us to sit according to our number, the first person didn't even get to sit and was immediately told to go up on stage and stand behind the yellow tape line and perform while the second person had to be on stand by and wait just before the steps.
There was no introductions or cue to start. We just got up on stage, did our thing and the next person went up and did theirs. Everyone clapped for each other (which was sweet) and the ladies looked at us...I think the previous group didn't do that nor the people in other groups.
For our audition we were told to perform 1 cateory for 1 minute, be it singing, dancing, MC-ing, modeling or acting. Some were cut off before a minute, and some went over a minute. I can't say if the people that went on long we necessarily good because some did alright, while others did a terrible job. I dunno, I guess the judges were going with how much they felt was sufficient to determine a person's talent.
In my case...I went a little nuts on the stage. I did everything from closing my eyes, to moving my hands like Christina Aguilera, flicking my hair back and bending like I had a tummy ache.
I have no explanation except I was possibly possesed. I still don't remember everything well because I was nervous and went with the flow and trying to get the lyrics right.
That nervousness made me stop before the judges told me to stop....why did I do that?!!! I knew the lyrics but I just did...I think I was so nervous that I wanted my time on stage to end. I was the only one that did this...oh the shame! As I walked down the stage, I mildly cursed at myself but I hope it wasn't loud enough for the judges to hear. Within my group there was one guy that seemed like he would make it. He had good looks, was Korean (what a boost), tall and sang decently. I noticed the ladies smiling and nodding at each other, looking at his application again. Oh these ladies were smitten. My instint is right once again, because after everyone was done, they apparently pulled him aside and told him to sing again that night at 7PM. I talked to him a bit and joked about getting his autograph, little did he know that I was serious. Hello! I wanna hold this guy's first autograph and then show it off when he becomes the next star.
As we waited for everyone to finish, we were told we could leave. I told my new friends that I was too nervous to look straight so I closed my eyes momentarily on the stage, at which one of the guys went "Oh...I thought you were really getting into the song". <__<
The nightmare and the excitement had ended.
All we could do on our way back was laugh at random moments, our singing and...other's singing hahhaa.
It was a fun experience in all, and if anyone is interested in auditioning but feel they are not good enough, forget that! Just go and do your best. There were a lot of teenagers with bad teeth and acne. In the videos of JYP trainees, there were kids that looked just like anyone of us but were working hard to make their debut. It was a thrilling experience for sure, and I had a blast :)
I wanna see the pics you guys took!
2PM news has been so depressing lately but Arashi keeps me happy.
I am so thankful for the happy place in this fandom, that's how I like it....a place to bring smiles on my face when I am stressed with things going on my life.
Arashi is so awesome for having 5000 autographs, wow!!! I didn't know Arashi had 500,000 official fan club members, isn't that close to DBSK's record number of fans? Well...go Arashi, I hope they make the fan club more accessible to fans outside of Japan coz I wanna join.
That's it!
Aiba is made to have a family....A fan's bias probably, but his wife and children will be so lucky!!!
I love Aiba-chan :D
I am liking My Girl and the Arashi song!
This makes me happy YAY!
music starts right around 3:45
Heard Johnny is going to really push this kid up to be the face of Johnnys. Honestly I think this kid can act better than half the Hey Say kids and his speaking voice is decent.
Let's see how far this kid can rise.
I hate all you fucking crazy lunatic anti's!
Driving him out of Korea, making him quit his group.....
I hope Karma slaps you in the face to infinity. Yes, I am now officially a crazy batshit fan but that's okay because I am nothing compared to how nuts you all are!
Well wishes and success to whatever Jay plunges into....and I hope no more lunatics get involved with him.
YES, I M A 2PM FAN.
My housemates have moved and I think they took my cooking pots by mistake. Not 1 but 2! Which is basically all of my pots. T___T
I am craving noodles, so the Rice cooker is gonna have to show it's magic. I heard it works but never tried it.
Have you guys tried cooking noodles in rice cooker?! I heard the Japanese bake bread in it too O___O
Arashi stalks me far worse than crazy Korean fangirls LOL.
I've been watching Family Outing and BGM (thanks Nino, for the abbreviation) is similar to ones used in Odoroki no Arashi.
To make my point clear, check out this video right around 5:38.
continuing the saga of Korean boy bands.
I have heard from an ol' trusty source that DBSK is unhappy with SM, their agency, and are negotiating their contract.
Their contract spans for 15 years! They earn if their album crosses 500,000 mark (REALLY?!) and SM pays them some 20%...
I dunno..the details are shady and the stuff being said is shady! AHEM!
Which brings me to wonder how much Arashi earns. The 5 guys in DBSK split their earnings equally.
Arashi too has 5 members and I think they said they earn the same 'base' amount. So much change does Johnny spare from his pocket?
I sure hope it beats what my previous part-time job paid me O___O
